Website Accessibility Statement
Last Updated: September 2026
Farnhams Community is a small, volunteer‑run organisation committed to making our website accessible and usable for as many people as possible across Farnham Common, Farnham Royal and the surrounding areas. Although we are not a public sector body, we believe everyone should be able to access local news, events, magazine updates and community information without barriers.
We aim to follow recognised best‑practice accessibility principles, including guidance from the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), and we work to make reasonable adjustments in line with the Equality Act 2010.
Our Commitment to Accessibility
We want our website to be:
- Clear and easy to read
- Simple to navigate
- Compatible with assistive technologies
- Accessible on different devices and screen sizes
We review our content and design regularly and continue improving accessibility as our resources allow.
Our Best Intentions for New Content
While we cannot guarantee perfect accessibility in every circumstance, we are committed to ensuring that all new content published on the Farnhams Community website is created with accessibility in mind. This includes:
- Using clear headings and readable text
- Adding alt text to meaningful images
- Avoiding overly complex layouts
- Ensuring new PDFs or documents are produced in accessible formats wherever possible
As a volunteer‑run organisation with limited funds, we may not always achieve full compliance, but we will always do our best to make new content as accessible as reasonably possible.
Accessibility Features on This Website
To support inclusive access, our website includes:
- Readable font sizes and high‑contrast text
- Logical heading structure for screen readers
- Keyboard‑friendly navigation
- Alt text for meaningful images
- Clear link descriptions
- Accessible contact forms
- Adjustable cookie preferences through an accessible consent panel
Archived Magazines and Historical Content
Farnhams Community hosts an archive of older magazine issues that were originally published by Farnham Royal Parochial Church Council (FRPCC). These documents form part of the community’s historical record and are made available in their original form.
Because they were created before modern accessibility standards existed, some archived magazines may:
- Not be fully readable by screen readers
- Contain images without alt text
- Include scanned pages or PDFs that are not tagged for accessibility
- Use legacy layouts or formatting that may be difficult to navigate
Limitations Due to Resources
As a small, volunteer‑run organisation with limited funds, we are not always able to convert older archived content into fully accessible alternative formats. Some historical documents may therefore remain partially inaccessible.
Support We Can Offer
If you need help accessing information from an archived magazine, please contact us. While we may not be able to provide full alternative formats, we will do our best to:
- Provide a brief summary of specific sections
- Extract particular pieces of information on request
- Help you locate the content you need
Contact: editor@farnhamscommunity.org
Additional Support From the Original Publisher
Since the archived magazines were originally produced by Farnham Royal Parochial Church Council, they may hold earlier versions or related records. If you require information that we are unable to provide, you may wish to contact FRPCC directly to see whether they can assist.
Areas We Are Working to Improve
We are aware that some parts of the website may not yet be fully accessible, including:
- Older PDF documents
- Historical magazine issues
- Third‑party embedded content such as maps or videos
We will continue to improve accessibility where possible as our website develops.
